Good Advice About Losing Weight From Jane Brody
Over the years, I have written quite a few entries about obesity, but I just want to call your attention to an editorial piece written last week (Tuesday, March 6, 2018) by Jane Brody, a medical writer for the NYT. She offers her “prescription” for successful weight loss, based on her personal experience. For the most part, I agree with her comments. My only “but” is that she does not mention the importance of genetic factors in the ease with which one can lose extra body weight or stay slim. We all need to acknowledge the fact that for some people, genetic factors, make it very difficult for them to lose, and to maintain a healthy weight. Anyway, the article is worth reading. Almost all diets work for a while, but for most people, the only way to maintain the weight loss is as Ms. Brody writes: “healthy eating and exercise, not fasting and dieting, remain your best bets to dropping pounds, as a writer discovered many decades ago.”
